This super simple recipe has turned friends who are wary of tofu into tofu addicts! Faster than you can bake a tray of frozen nuggets, and a great way to introduce a “Meatless Monday” ritual to your little ones.

Serve with rice, salad, and your favourite vegetables as you would any meat entree. Great the next day for a quick lunch wrapped in a tortilla with lettuce, tomato and cucumber!

Thanks to our amazing BB trainer – and sometimes vegetarian – Suzanne Hancock for this yummy and simple meat-free recipe.

Crispy Fried Tofu

serves 3

  • 1 350g-package extra-firm tofu
  • tamari (enough to cover tofu)
  • flaked nutritional yeast
  • sea salt
  • black pepper
  • olive oil

1. Run the tofu under cold water and then pat dry; cut the block of tofu into 1/4-inch slices. 2. Put tofu slices on a plate or in a container and cover with tamari; leave for a few minutes to allow the tofu time to soak up the tamari. 3. Mix the yeast, salt & pepper on another plate and dredge marinated tofu slices in the nutritional yeast mixture. 4. Heat olive oil in frying pan over medium-high heat; cook tofu in pan until browned on both sides.
