Meet Katie from our Leslieville BB location! Katie is a rare breed of self-disciplinarian (masochist), attending 3 times per week since fall 2013. She gives her all in every class and, despite an old knee injury, she’s grown into quite the little powerhouse! Katie doesn’t say much in class, which could be because she’s so focused… or it could mean she’s plotting some sort of revenge. Thanks, Katie!


What brought you to BB? How long did you train?

I’ve been training with BB since November 2013. When the cold weather started to come last fall, I found the days at home seemed longer — I needed to get out! A friend in the neighbourhood mentioned she had done bootcamp with her baby and it was one of her favourite things she did during her maternity leave.

What results have you experienced?

Before and during pregnancy I was running lots but not doing much strength training. I am definately stronger than before: I probably doubled if not tripled the number of push ups I could do. Same for my core: I don’t tremble anymore when we do planks. Pre-pregnancy clothes also seem a little loose lately.

How do you stay active outside of BB?

I don’t do much else right now, but I am planning on hitting the road again to get some running in. I curl on the weekends; sometimes my upper body is sore from the sweeping!

What is your #1 fitness goal now?

I’d like to get back out and run now that the warmer weather is here! I’ve signed up to run the Sporting Life 10k with some old work colleagues. I would also like to get back into spinning/cycling again.

Fave healthy food?

Veggies and hummus. If I’ve run out hummus, then I grab a piece of fruit or yogurt.

Fave BB exercise?

Burpees — they remind me of high school! (we told you she’s a rare breed…)

Exercise you want to punch in the face?

After my first class that felt like I had done 500 squats. My butt did not forgive me for the week. Telemark lunges still get me.

Last splurge food or drink?

Ice cream cake!
